6 Secrets you didn’t know about Pretoria…for a good night out on the town.

So…you’ve just arrived in Pretoria, you’re rested up and you’re looking for a good time but…where?

Luckily, I know a few places if you’re ready for some unforgettable experiences.

The following 6 places will have you daydreaming back to that epic night out in Pretoria.

1. ‘Sokkie’ @ Padstal

Join me on a journey to the outskirts of Pretoria, where we’ll discover Padstal, nestled next to the Grove Mall. Immerse yourself in its rustic ambiance, boasting a spacious dance floor that sees both locals and visitors alike.

The live music and vibrant atmosphere invites you to dance the night away, and perhaps even acquire the art of sokkie dancing. Personally, I’ve danced at Padstal until my knees threatened to give in, making it a cherished local gem. This is just one of the many reasons why it holds a special place in the hearts of the community.

Along with a private function room that can be rented for parties or events, it hosts a Sushi Bar, Tobacco Shop, Carwash, Barber Shop, and Souvenir Shop. Believe it or not, with ample seating inside and in the two outside areas, this place gets packed on the weekend.

Before you completely lose yourself on the dance floor, you have the opportunity to choose between variety of dishes, ranging from hearty meals to quick bites. The menu caters to all appetites, ensuring you’re well-fueled for the night ahead. And of course, they have a full bar, so you can start the night off with your favorite drink.

It’s no surprise that Padstal has garnered a remarkable 4.3-star rating on Google. This stands as a testament to the countless people who have enjoyed their experiences and embraced the lively spirit of the place.

Padstal is a great place to go for a night out with friends. It’s affordable, fun, and has a great atmosphere. I highly recommend it! For more info, check out https://itsappening.life/listing/padstal/

2. Join a drumming circle @ Klitsgras

If you’re into dressing in theme to play some bongos, clowns on stilts, and fire throwers, then you’ll love Klitsgras Drumming Circle. It’s a great place to let loose, have fun and meet some interesting new people.

It starts off with a market and some music, drinks from the restaurant, and entertainment, such as fire throwers and characters on stilts who makes amazing balloon animals, you know I walked away with one… or three.

The market is open from 4pm to 9pm, so you can arrive early and enjoy the stalls and festivities before the drumming circle starts.

Later in the evening, you can rent a drum and join the group in their rhythms or create your own beats. At least they give a quick lesson, because I had no idea.

A Drumming Circle

The circle starts at 6pm, but the live music restaurant is a great place to sit and relax before or after the drumming circle. They have a wide selection of beers, wines, and cocktails, as well as a menu of pizzas, burgers, and other pub food.

Drumming with such a large group of people all feeling the vibe was an incredible experience. Previous attendees rate it 4.6 on Google. If you’re looking for an alternative and fun night out, I highly recommend Klitsgras Drumming Circle.

3. Club-hopping @ the Strip

Off to Lynnwood, where you’ll discover a lively road with young people hopping from club to club. This stretch is infamously known as “the strip,” drawing inspiration from the iconic Las Vegas counterpart.

With the exception of the varsity cafe, where I like to make a quick pit stop to refuel, the street is home to several clubs. Notable among them are The Jolly Roger, Fokof Bar, and Latino’s Bistro, which are consistently bustling and considered the standard run. For safety and fun reasons, consider visiting with a group of friends.

The Jolly Roger is a pirate-themed bar with a large outdoor patio. Fokof Bar is an alternative sit-down bar with some games such as an Xbox and pool tables. But personally, I have a soft spot for Latino’s Bistro, a Latin-themed bar and dance club, because the dance floor is always packed.

The atmosphere of this street is lively, loud, and bustling. The crowd gave it an average rating of 4.0 on Google. Be sure to go try it out yourself if you’re looking for a good night.
