Kolonaki Greek Kouzina

Description
Kolonaki Greek Kouzina in Parkhurst was packed and noisy on a Wednesday evening, not an empty table in sight, and we had to book weeks in advance to get an evening table. Definitely worth a visit, but I would opt for a quieter lunchtime visit next. The restaurant is in an old house on the corner of 4th avenue and 9th. It has lovely wooden tables and crockery, cozy heaters, attentive management, and we had an incredibly slick waitress. We never got to mains, just shared a whole lot of starters. What I enjoyed about Kolonaki is that it offers Greek food with a twist. Loved the trio of dips: brinjal, fava bean and a most unusual butternut one, served with perfectly chewy pita bread. Grilled prawns came on a bed of strawberry sauce and yoghurt. Their roasted tomato salad is so different and delicious. My absolute favourite dish was the crumbed calamari which comes on a bed of roasted red pepper sauce that I would like to buy for home!
But our highlight was definitely the Greek yoghurt panna cotta, topped with pistachio and white chocolate dust. Definitely going back for that with a good Greek coffee.
Do go look at the hilarious video of the panna cotta on my Instagram: kitchen_sanity
