Description
Magnolia Dell, one of Pretoria’s oldest parks, was reclaimed from land owned by the consolidated brickworks of Olive and Co. The park, designed in 1967 by Harry Bruinslich, features various Magnolia species and also serves as a home for Magnolia grandiflora street trees. Originally hosting a charity kiosk, the park underwent transformation when David Brewer proposed upgrading the kiosk into a full-time coffee shop in 1994, benefiting both the community and charitable organizations. Huckleberry’s, the resulting restaurant, preserved the original kiosk as its kitchen and kept the Leopard trees planted by Mrs. Weilbach. The park is traversed by Walker Spruit, which connects with the Apies River downstream, and features a shallow pond for recreational activities.
