Description

Welcome to KAYMA Algerian Eatery, a hidden gem offering a delightful fusion of African and Mediterranean cuisines. Located near Civic Center in San Francisco, this restaurant promises a culinary adventure like no other.

Step into a world of flavors as you savor perfectly cooked couscous, refreshing salads, and mouthwatering chicken dishes. Many guests highly recommend trying the delicious tea, adding to the delightful experience.

In collaboration with The Chronicle’s A Million Plates column, KAYMA celebrates the rich tapestry of immigrant food in the Bay Area. Embracing their Algerian heritage, Mounir Bahloul and his wife, Wafa, have embarked on a culinary journey that brings the vibrant flavors of North Africa to the heart of San Francisco.

The soon-to-be-launched food trailer, Kayma, showcases their passion for sharing their culinary heritage with the community. Amidst the compact yet bustling kitchen, Mounir and Wafa expertly prepare the dishes, infusing each creation with the melodic blend of Arabic and French in their conversations.

Delight your taste buds with signature dishes like tli tli bdjedj, a tantalizing chicken tomato stew seasoned with North African spice blend ras el hanout, served over steamed orzo. Or opt for the special version of couscous, accompanied by a delectable stew of lamb neck, chickpeas, and carrots, accentuated with a flavorful sauce made from water, onion, black pepper, and the essential ras el hanout—a cherished family recipe from Wafa’s homeland in Algeria, traditionally served during holidays and celebrations.

KAYMA Algerian Eatery is more than just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of culture, flavors, and the rich diversity of the Bay Area’s immigrant food scene. So, take a culinary journey to KAYMA and savor the vibrant tastes and warm hospitality that will leave you yearning for more.
